“The Fiorita Administration, with the latest and irresponsible provisions on traffic directions – imposed on the people of Catanzaro as a mocking Christmas “gift” – has decreed the definitive collapse of what remains of the productive activities of the historic centre. A chaotic, intermittent pedestrian area devoid of any logic, changes of direction decided unilaterally in the most economically delicate period of the year, a Christmas without events, without attractiveness and without a minimum urban animation strategy. Zero planning, zero involvement of production categories, zero vision. The result is there for all to see: Christmas 2025 was a disaster foretold for the city’s commerce. This is what we read in a note signed by city councilors Gianni Parisi, Valerio Donato and Stefano Veraldi

“An administration that is deaf to the requests of the territory”

“The failure of a self-referential administration, deaf to the requests of the territory, incapable of dialogue and totally inadequate to govern a complex city like Catanzaro. Improvised decisions are imposed without listening, without discussion and without the slightest evaluation of the devastating effects on the local economy. While traders, restaurateurs and food operators heroically continue to keep the shutters open, the Administration strikes them and abandons them. Today maintaining a business in the historic center is no longer a challenge: it is an act of civil resistance. And instead to support those who resist, this administration has consciously chosen to let them sink. In fact, no concrete initiative capable of creating flows, attracting people and bringing life back to the city center, no events worthy of the name, no communication, no strategy. The few events organized were episodic, disconnected and totally ineffective. minimally valorised. Inertia was chosen, giving up on creating collateral events that could animate the historic center and generate a minimum economic return for the activities. The picture is dramatic and can no longer be ignored. The city council has the duty to intervene and call the Fiorita administration to account for this disaster, the result of wicked, unshared choices and a total absence of planning. The case of the Mancuso Gallery is emblematic: over 500,000 euros of public money spent. without tangible results. Just as the over 400,000 euros allocated to the Christmas holidays are incomprehensible and unjustifiable, the effects of which for citizens and economic operators are simply non-existent. This is not a city government that is certifying its decline.
