Cesena’s second success in as many home games: Catanzaro defeated 2-0 at Manuzzi. The home team started off at a fast pace, testing the technical aspects of the goal in the first quarter of an hour with Calò and Shpendi shooting wide. The lead came in the 18th minute: Ciofi got ahead of Iemmello, Berti perfected the recovery and from 40 metres out started a one-two with Shpendi, the 2004 Juventus player then crossed to Kargbo who, undisturbed on the left, comfortably placed the ball into the net. The guests reacted and came close to equalising twice with Iemmello (two shots from the edge that went just wide in the 37th and 41st minutes) and above all with Ceresoli, who was freed in front of Pisseri in the 40th minute but shot straight at him with his left foot. Cesena was also close to scoring at the end of the half: Kargbo, served in the area by Bastoni, found an excellent reflex from Pigliacelli in the 43rd minute. The second half opens with the Romagna team doubling their lead: a splendid cross from the left by Kargbo, perfect insertion by Adamo for a header that leaves no escape for Pigliacelli. Shortly after, Shpendi misses the third goal one-on-one with the visiting goalkeeper, the Calabrians try to get back into the game but the Cesena defense is rock-solid and saves on several occasions, with Cavalluccio coming close to making it 3-0 again on the counterattack with Adamo. The guests never let up the pressure but also crash on the VAR, which in the 90th minute cancels the 2-1 for the Giallorossi due to a handball. It’s a big celebration for Cesena, who rises to 6 points. The Calabrians remain at 2.
