The recent government decree has expanded the range of tools to combat incivility, but the legislation is not enough: the greater awareness, by all citizens, is necessary, that the territory and the environment belong to each of us. So the mayor of Catanzaro Nicola Fiorita appeals to the community, highlighting that – in light of the latest changes to the consolidated environmental text and the highway code, as well as the criminal code – the local police will also strengthen the controls on the territory aiming for greater deterrence.
The new legislation provides for the use of the cameras with the suspension of the license and the arrest in deferred flagrance, therefore within 48 hours, for those who abandon waste (tires, batteries, asbestos) in protected areas, near rivers or already polluted areas.
