There is about a month left until the start of classes at the University of Catanzaro, but university students have started looking for an apartment in which to stay during the next academic year well in advance. The seaside neighborhood is once again at the top of the student population’s wishes, mainly for two reasons: its proximity to commercial activities and above all because it is well connected to public transport. Furthermore, requests also include Fortuna area, where a room can cost less, the Porto area, as well as the Casciolino and Giovino areas.
“We had requests for rooms in the agency already in May. Second-year students, disappointed by the conditions of the house they chose in their first year, which showed its defects once they started using it. Or students who did not get along with the owners, or who had unpleasant surprises regarding extra expenses due to the lack of transparency of some owners”, explained the partner of “Futura Immobiliare” Valerio Veraldialso specifying that the price varies according to the area since for a single room you spend on average from 250 to 300 euros.
“For the city center – Veraldi emphasized – the requests are very few and almost always, they come from students who will come to attend the Academy of Fine Arts and Sociology, which are located in the heart of the historic center. But there are also requests from students who attend the university in Germaneto, but who intend to keep costs down. Some tell me their spending budget which usually varies between 150 and 220 euros. Consequently, I they ask for rooms in the city centre because they are aware that the prices there are lower».
Words that are also reflected in those of the owner of “Solo Affitti”, Domenico Corradino: «Usually requests – he stated – start as early as April, especially for students who enrolled later the previous year and therefore had to settle for the accommodations that were available in that period and therefore decide to anticipate the search to find better accommodations».
