The taste of victory lasts for half an hour between the end of the first half and the middle of the second half. The outcome was a fair draw, but the 2-2 draw between Catanzaro and Frosinone leaves a bad taste in the Giallorossi’s mouth for the wasted double lead. Cichella and Fiori reply to Frosinini and Liberali.
Beautiful match like the first leg, with no holds barred. Frosinone presses man after man and has a high center of gravity to cause harm from the left, with the shots and crosses of Ghedjemis and the incursions of the former Koutsoupias, a central attacking midfielder in Alvini’s 4-2-3-1 who starts strong and forces Pigliacelli into two miracles and a save: on the close-range header by Koutsoupias (27′), on the right by Calò (30′) fed by the ball wandering from a cross by Ghedjemis and another strike by Calò from outside (40′).
As in the first leg, Catanzaro keeps on the right and risks more on the left, where, however, it also creates its most dangerous opportunities: Pittarello serves Liberali who takes the crossbar (14′) and on the rebound Frosinini shoots high, then Pittarello clears Frosinini’s assist (32′), then Liberali (33′) and Favasuli (34′) seriously challenge Palmisani. Cassandro in the 1st minute of added time blows the ball away from Kvernadze, Favasuli crosses to the far post and Frosinini first hits the crossbar with his thigh, then the ball caroms between his head and shoulder and enters the net. The “Ceravolo” explodes again after 23″ of the second half, when Liberali launched by Pittarello goes 70 meters with the ball at his feet, is centralized, and hits the far corner from the left. Frosinone reacts: Pigliacelli saves on Ghedjemis, but can do nothing on the right diagonal from the edge of Cichella (5′) it’s 2-1. Favasuli (7′) gives the Ciociari shivers, but in the 22nd minute substitute Fiori takes it from behind, served by A. Oyono. It ends with a soft right-footed shot from Pittarello (29′) and a high shot from Cittadini is the equalizer that Pittarello could break (29′) on a chocolate from Petriccione served in space by (6′ of added time).
