“What does Alessandro Onorato want from me??? Maybe he’s nervous because he isn’t growing in the polls while we are! Rome’s entertainment councilor Alessandro Onorato arrives in Sicily, leader of Progetto Civico Italia, a party born in a test tube to help the centre-left, and what does he do? In an interview he decides to lash out at myself to attack me. Only because in recent weeks I limited myself to saying that Progetto Civico Italia is a party born in a test tube”. This is what we read in a social post spread by Cateno De Luca, leader of South calls North, in response to Alessandro Onorato, founder of Progetto Civico Italia who this morning, during the Controcorrente meeting in Agrigento, had declared that De Luca would ultimately be Vannacci’s candidate for the next regional elections in 2027 in Sicily.
“Why is it so heated? The fact is that it was not born from below, but from the will of some PD leaders in agreement with the leader Giuseppe Conte. The newspapers have been writing about it for weeks and I have not read any denials. But the topic is another.
Alessandro Onorato, arm in arm with Ismaele La Vardera, arrives in Sicily to give a lesson to the undersigned, in an obvious and clumsy attempt to attack me. He calls me a phenomenon in entertainment. I take it as a compliment from a master of cinema and variety.
When on April 23rd we had dinner in Rome at the “Osteria il mare di Terracina” with mutual friends, however, you had a completely different vision of me and my godson Ismaele La Vardera. And I avoid reporting here what you said about the good Ishmael in front of the other guests. At the end of the unpleasant dinner, the good Onorato told me: “If you don’t decide to join the project, I’ll take La Vardera!”. For Onorato’s cynicism (not civility!), Cateno De Luca is equal to La Vardera because we still have good numbers for his personal needs.
But he absolutely wanted to make an agreement with me… I remember well that, in his courtship, he made it clear to me that he needed to collect numbers in Sicily too, because Progetto Civico Italia had to help him to be elected to the Chamber of Deputies. You understand well that I certainly couldn’t go arm in arm with those who would like to exploit civility just to enter the “house of Jesus”! But come in, we hope so, but don’t allow yourself to shoot shit at myself and the community we represent.

For over 40 years – I REPEAT: 40 YEARS – I have been in the trenches, serving citizens and administering municipal buildings with concrete facts. For us politics is a serious matter! Then, regarding the activity carried out at the ARS, I remind the good Onorato that South calls North from day one he respected the electoral mandate, remaining in the opposition and also voting no confidence in Schifani! Furthermore, a councilor for the Municipality of Rome like him should know that there is also an institutional dialogue between the majority and the opposition. And I, in order to bring home concrete measures that are useful to the Sicilians, dialogue with the government, but I attack it heavily every time it does something dirty. What would be the problem?
Saying that civility is right-wing or left-wing is one of the biggest blasphemies I’ve ever heard. Civilism as such has no political ideology, because it responds only to one master: the people!
Go back to studying, we’ll talk about it later. To the Rome entertainment councilor I want to dedicate a passage from a famous song “U Paisi Tornu” by Nicosia singer-songwriter Franco Polizzi: “But whoever happens cca li scecchi su cavaddi ta stu paisi stranu cu ragghia cumanna”. If he does not understand the Sicilian dialect, the good Onorato can ask for help from my godson Ismaele.
Ps. Two small final remarks for Prof. Onorato. He says there is no room for a third way and gives an example: “Either you are with Trump or you are against Trump.” Out of curiosity, dear Onorato, could you tell me if the M5S leader Giuseppe Conte, your ally in the broad field, is with Trump or against Trump? Another question for Prof. Onorato: do you know that the leader of Italia Viva, Matteo Renzi, his ally from the wide camp, supports Lagalla, the centre-right mayor, in Palermo?”
