They were filmed in a video that later ended up on social media, in which they were seen attacking a disabled person, a family member, hitting him repeatedly, even with a belt. The subjects in question, members of a single family, had been reported released after about a month for mistreatment in the family and were banned from approaching the offended party with the affixing of an electronic bracelet. Now the three have been toarrested and placed under house arrest by the carabinieri of the Corigliano Calabro Centro station, dependent on the Territorial Department of Corigliano-Rossano, in execution of an order from the investigating judge of Castrovillari at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The facts date back to mid-March 2024 when the video was released through the main social networks. The images had angered several users, some of whom had reported the episode to the police. The video was then acquired and, following the indications of the Prosecutor’s Office, the investigators traced the perpetrators. Among other things, the victim had been found at the time in a condition of extreme discomfort, characterized above all by a clear state of malnutrition and abandonment. The investigations also revealed that he was cyclically subjected to beatings and deprived of any financial support, despite receiving a disability pension.
At first the investigating judge had issued the measure of the ban on approaching the places frequented by the offended party with the application of electronic devices but the Castrovillari Prosecutor’s Office, directed by Alessandro D’Alessioconsidered that the measure was not suitable to guarantee the procedural and protection needs of the victim and has now managed to obtain house arrest for the three suspects. The victim was placed in a protected facility where, months later, he regained a physical form suited to his conditions and the tranquility of living.
