The outcry caused at the Mercure Headquarters after the “case” of the President of Mercure srl who, in fact, refused to answer Councilor Laghi’s questions, as explicitly agreed upon in the Sixth Council Commission, does not subside. Laghi has in fact sent an official communication to the top management of the “parent” company, Sorgenia SpA.

“I sent to the President of the Sorgenia Group – which is owned by Mercure srl, owner of the plant -, Ettore Francesco Sequi, and to the CEO, Michele Enrico De Censi, a note which I also forwarded for information to the President of the Calabria Region , Roberto Occhiuto and to the President of the Regional Council, Filippo Mancuso” – begins Councilor Laghi.

Laghi has always actively participated in the battles of the many citizens of the area who over the years have mobilized against the biomass power plant, located in the heart of the Pollino Park, and after the session of the Sixth Regional Commission he publicly accused the current ownership of having a “non-collaborative” attitude, precisely due to the about-face of the President of Mercure srl, regarding the request for information on the plant, first guaranteed and then denied.

“What pushed me to inform the Sorgenia leaders – Laghi explains in this regard – was the unspeakable behavior of the President of Mercure srl -ing. Alberto Vaccarella –who, during the last session of the Sixth Commission, failed to fulfill the commitment publicly agreed upon during his hearing, i.e. to respond in writing to specific questions about the system, communicating it to me, moreover, only as he left the room of the session. Even more unacceptable behavior as he verbally justified my “positions” on the issues covered by the hearing. What happened – concludes Laghi -, in addition to being objectively reprehensible, as it violates an explicit, publicly and freely assumed agreement, is, in my opinion, detrimental to the dignity of the Institution – the Regional Council of the Calabria Region – of which I am honored to be part of it, as well as, obviously, generating doubts and questions about the real reasons for this denial”.

The group leader of De Magistris President in the Regional Council, as well as vice president of the Environment Council Commission, requested, in the note sent, to adopt every appropriate initiative, so that what was agreed in the Commission is concretely implemented.
