The “Accussì” Cultural Association is ready to start with the third edition of its “Festival for the Eyes”, Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd Augustnear the Piazza della Chiesa di San Nicola, Giampilieri (Messina).
According to the President of the Association, Donatella Manganaro “Accussì continues to be a project that speaks to the Community and to the Communities, which wants to dialogue with the so-called “small worlds”, those of the villages, the hamlets, the suburbs. And it wants to do so with the aim of meeting the aspiration of the residents with the world of art and culture.
The program of the third edition is rich and touches multiple “artistic” worlds. The second edition of the contest took place in Giampilieri on 23 July “Photographer Accussì”, which allowed residents to talk about the town through photographic shots. The shots themselves will become part of an open-air photographic exhibition that will be set up during the two days of the Festival.
Another novelty of this edition starts a couple of days earlier and aims to be an initiative capable of creating a bond within the community. On Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th July the Association will tour with the residents a short film dedicated to Giampilieri in just 48 hours. This is an experiment that involves a large part of the community (both in acting and production roles) and which will result in the screening of the final result on Monday 3 August, during the last evening of the Festival.
The initiative (which was called by the Association “Gira, Monta and Firìa”) represents the expression of a desire born from one of the short films that will be screened (out of competition) on Sunday 2 August: “Posing for America” by Luciangela Gatto. Followed, that same evening, by a short speech by Pippo Sfravaraauthor of the story and the book from which the short film is based.
The “Accussì” project, carried out by the three founders of the Association Donatella Manganaro, Marco Minutoli and Antonio Micali, has obtained the free support of numerous partners, including the Giampilieri 2.0 Associationactive in the area since 2017 and “Evening Short”, Short Film Festival which will start its fourteenth edition from August 5th at the Church of the Badìa di Croce (Itala Superiore). But also Messina Film Commission, Trinacria Theater Company, PuliAmo Messina, Tercio De Sicilia, ProLoco Messina Sud and Lettera Emme. The Festival also obtained the free patronage of Municipality of Messina.
The Festival for the Eyes does not just want to be a “one-off” event but increasingly seeks to establish itself as a sort of glue between different territorial realities, a hub of interconnection between subjects who every year move personal resources and values to create a project that tells the story of the people, the places, the past and the future of our environments. And so “The Festival for the Eyes” becomes a space where it is possible to promote the next departure of “Corto di Sera” in Itala, but also the place to be able to tell the story of the preparation of the artist residency in Pezzolo by the “Trinacria Theater Company”.
Finally, the three categories in the competition have been confirmed:
– “Du Paisi”, which will be awarded by a Quality Jury composed of Carmelo De Leo, Ivan Tornesi and a representative of the country.
– “Animation”which will be awarded by a Technical Jury, composed of Aurora Celenza, Salvo D’Arrigo and Michela De Domenico
– “Comedy”which will be awarded directly by the public present during the screenings.
