More than 50 people died in a car accident in the province of Herat, in the west of Afghanistan, when a truck collided by a bus. The police made it known. “Due to the excessive speed and negligence, the bus came out of the main road and clashed violently with a truck in the province of Herat,” said the police.
The bus transported Afghani to return from Iran, following a massive wave of deportations, and was heading towards the capital Kabul, reported a provincial official to the FP.
The police of the District of Guzara, outside the city of Herat, where the accident occurred, said that a motorcycle was also involved. Most of the victims were aboard the bus, as well as two people traveling on the truck and the two passengers of the motorcycle.
Road accidents are common in Afghanistan, in part due to bad road conditions after decades of conflict, dangerous guide and lack of regulations. In December, two bus accidents that had involved a truck and a truck on a highway that crosses the center of the town had caused the death of at least 52 people.
