Violent clashes in the center of Madrid on the occasion of the pro-Palestine protest linked to the passage of La Vuelta. The heart of tensions is the Paseo del Prado. Some demonstrators launched the police and dragged barriers in the middle of the road. Answer response with the launch of numerous smoke bombs and charges.
The 21st and last stage of the Vuelta was interrupted 56 kilometers from the arrival in Madrid for the protests of hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators who invaded the track: violent clashes are being registered in the center of the Spanish capital.
The runners stopped and got off the bikes and the direction of the race blocked the race which was declared ended in advance without a ranking. The Danish Jonas Vingegaard, already virtually winner, thus triumphed for the first time in the Spanish stages race but did not exulted.
The chaos of the final stage crowned three weeks of protests at the Vuelta against the offensive in the Gaza Strip that targeted the Israel-Premier Tech Tech of the Israeli-Kanese magnate Sylvan Adams. 1,500 agents had been lined up for the final stage from Alalpardo to Madrid of 103 kilometers.
Accidents also occurred in the Spanish capital where many demonstrators with the Palestinian flag and the cry of “Where are the penalties for Israel?” They hit the barriers to occupy stretches of road where the race should have passed. Near the Atocha station, Callao and Paseo del Prado there have been tensions with the launch of objects by the demonstrators and the police offices.
The Spanish premier, Pedro Sanchez, expressed his “support and admiration for the participants in the protests against the genocide in Palestine” and said he was against the presence of the Israel-Pro Tech team at Vuelta.
