If on the one hand 76% of separate waste collection has been achieved in the city, on the other hand the uncivilized practice of indiscriminate abandonment of waste continues, accompanied by the violation of other regulations regarding respect and protection of the environment. In this sense, however, the repressive and sanctioning action against transgressors continues unabated through joint work between the Environment Department, the municipal police and the company in charge of the collection service.
According to data provided by the Environment Department led by Francesco Madeo, and referring to 2025, 289 reports were issued for the abandonment of waste with immediate notification, while 117 were reports relating to the crime of indiscriminate abandonment of high waste thanks to the help of photo traps and images from video surveillance cameras. The activity also involved other infringements, such as uncultivated land for which there were 23 reports.
The sanctioning interventions also affected another sad plague, namely stray dogs and the incorrect management of owned dogs.
