The State Police, through the staff of the Operational Section for Cyber Security of Cosenza, has implemented a precautionary measure order of house arrest against a person residing in the hinterland of the municipality of Corigliano-Rossano, under investigation for the possession of a large quantity of child pornography material. The investigative activity, launched in recent months under the direction of the Catanzaro Prosecutor’s Office and with the coordination of the National Center for the Fight against Online Child Pornography, originated from a report resulting from the monitoring of the main instant messaging platforms. During personal, local and IT search operations ordered by the judicial authority, postal police specialists identified and seized over 800 videos depicting minors under 18 involved in explicit sexual acts. In light of the elements acquired, the arrest was carried out in flagrante delicto, validated in the first instance by the judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Castrovillari. Subsequently, the investigating judge of Catanzaro, accepting the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, ordered the measure of house arrest, simultaneously imposing a ban on the use of communication tools, including IT ones.
