The Cosentino commercial lung breathes strongly, but with differences between the various categories that have recorded falling in some cases and in other increases compared to the past years. The tenth edition of the “Business Demography in Italian cities” studies made by the Confcommercio office office tells this. A privileged observatory on the demography of companies in Italian cities that now is reliable to follow the evolution of commercial establishments and accommodation and catering activities in the individual cities.
As regards retail trade, as a total category, Cosenza, based on the latest data (updated in June 2024), has 495 companies in the historic center and 377 beyond the perimeter of the historic center which is wider than that traditionally understood. The drop is important compared to the past: in 2012 there were 569 in the historic center and 509 not in the historic center, 517 in the historic center and 438 not in the historic center in 2019.
