Having put aside the defeat in the Italian Cup at the “Olimpico Grande Torino” stadium, it is time for Cosenza to think about theChampionship debut next Sunday, 8.30pm, at the “Marulla” against Cremonese. Last year, the Silani had brought Sassuolo to extra time in the thirty-second round of the cup (Mazzocchi’s goal at the end for the temporary 2-2 which then became 2-5 in extra time), this year, in the end, there was no story but D’Orazio and his teammates did not fall and this is already a great thing considering the problems that are being experienced on the banks of the Crati.
The match against the Granata, which was also used by both teams to get used to the championship debut (there is also Milan-Torino on Saturday), said many things beyond the result. While it is true that the Rossoblu held the field well, demonstrating in some phases of the match that they were able to organize good plays with a harmony between the team members that is growing day by day, on the other hand it is equally true that the Wolves struggled terribly in the realization phase. The only truly dangerous shot towards Milinkovic-Savic’s goal (which ended up just over) was fired by Fumagalli. For the rest, it was a containment match, heavily influenced by Camporese’s unfortunate own goal less than 1′ into the match.but before Zapata doubled the lead at the end, they still didn’t see any great conclusions on target. So it was a positive match, which left more good impressions than the negative ones. “We played well against a team in a higher category and that has played more friendlies than us, so they had more energy. Going down after 36 seconds is not easy, but we always stayed in the game and the response of the boys on the pitch satisfied me”, said coach Massimiliano Alvini.
Despite the final 2-0, the rossoblù coach had good responses from his boys. It was a match that gave many confirmations compared to the first pre-season outings. First of all the attitude of those who took to the field, secondly a scheme that now seems tested: the 3-4-1-2, the coach’s trademark, is also becoming one of Cosenza.
For the moment, the coach is waiting for those five reinforcements that the market has been so loudly requesting.: a defender and a left winger (or ambidextrous) who can plug the absences of the injured Venturi and D’Orazio while also guaranteeing a valid alternative to Camporese in defence; a midfielder of quality and quantity; in addition to those two forwards who always represent the priority, in particular one who has double figures in goals in his belt.
The hope, in the environment, is that someone can arrive for the difficult match against Cremonese in the championship debut (by the way, training will resume this afternoon), otherwise Alvini will have to make a virtue of necessity again, perhaps confirming the eleven from Turin that nevertheless gave him a minimum of satisfaction.
On a tactical level, it remains to be understood the role of Florenzi, who until now has been deployed in the centre also for contingent reasons, but who could move to the attacking midfield if a midfielder capable of recovering the ball and orchestrating the play finally arrives.
