Cosenza, women’s football is reborn thanks to Unical (and Cus). And Palazzo dei Bruzi celebrates the first title

In short, it is instinct, the touch of the soul, the story, love, illusion, disappointment. But, for a few years, it has also been the other half of the sky, the one that is colored pink. In Cosenza, the kick is no longer a closed circle, a stadium topic with stagnations of exclusively male madness. No, football today is also female, in the stands, on the pitch, in debates. The woman is worth as much as the man, say the experts who don’t miss a match of our girls. Women are strong, forces, even stronger. For this reason it wasn’t understood (and still isn’t understood well) why Cosenza football refused to enroll the women’s team in the Serie C championship. Was it just a question of money? Perhaps. And, perhaps, it is also for money that the Old Wolf seems destined to change master. The Arabs are coming, they say. But while waiting to see the camels on the horizon, the fans rejoiced at the return of women’s football. Thursday evening, the new Cus Cosenza club sent its new boat into the water at Palazzo dei Bruzi, presenting the staff of the first team and the teams that will participate in the youth tournaments (under 17, under 15, under 12 and under 10). About eighty athletes in green tracksuits welcomed by the mayor, Franz Caruso, who gave them a check for one thousand euros, personally drawn by the mayor, the members of the council and the city councilors who taxed themselves. More than real support, it was a sort of prize for the first trophy already put on the board by the team led by coach Luisa Orlando, who won the regional Italian Cup (understood as victory in the Calabrian final of the tricolor event) at first assault she immediately earned the third circle of football paradise. And if Cus Cosenza moves forward at this rate, the meetings and awards ceremonies at Palazzo dei Bruzi will be frequent.
