Crisis at the Municipality of Catanzaro. There is action, but without “armchairs”

A political agreement in the strictest sense of the term, without any councillorships or sub-government positions in exchange. This is how the agreement with Azione by the centre-left forces that support the administration of mayor Nicola Fiorita is taking shape, at least at this stage.. An internal support, it is clarified after the work of the center-left table that met yesterday afternoon, but without “armchairs”; on the other hand the group leader Valerio Donato he declared right here in these columns that Azione would not set limits on government positions. A sort of viaticum is therefore taking shape to give life to a new majority at Palazzo De Nobili; an activity of comparison, authoritative sources at Palazzo De Nobili explain, on which Fiorita has made it clear to everyone that he will not give in to blackmail or distribute perks in exchange for support. The construction of the new governing body of the city will in fact depend on this agreement. And also the final quality of the “product”.

The turnover within the Council, it is reported, “will be important”. There should be few councilors left from the old executive, probably only those who have given up their seats in the City Council to join the executive for the last two years: Nunzio Belcaro and Donatella Monteverdi for Cambiavento, Giusy Iemma for the Democratic Party. But it will be the political forces that will have to give indications on this matter to the mayor. The other members of the Council should be new. In the Democratic Party, for example, the names of possible candidates are being mentioned, such as Salvatore Passafaro (accountant and Democratic Party member) but also Francesco Pitaro (lawyer and former regional councilor). The figure of Pasquale Squillace (current chief of staff of the mayor) remains pigeonholed in Public Works. But, it is reiterated in majority circles, it will be the parties and groups that will have to put forward proposals to the mayor.
