Crotone, Coast Guard checks at sea and on the coast: penalties for over 8 thousand euros

The Maritime Police Services, intensified on the weekend by the Port Authority – Coast Guard of Crotone, through the use of patrol boats and fast boats supported by land by patrols, have made it possible to carry out numerous checks at sea in the field of pleasure navigation and on the ground, against bathing establishments and catering activities.

The activities carried out by the naval units at sea have made it possible to impose a total of 8 penalties to as many water motorcycle conductors for the violation of the ordinance nr. 51/2018 of 13 June 2018 which establishes the prohibition of navigation in the time slots between 11:00 and 1 pm and between 17 at 19.

Administrative penalties of an amount equal to € 459 (four hundred and fifty -nine) for a total amount of approximately 3,700 (three thousand seventy hundred) have been contested.
During the checks carried out by land on the coast of jurisdiction, the control activities by the soldiers of the Port Authority – Coast Guard of Crotone to the bathing establishments, carried out in the field of the seafood and Safe Lakes 2025 and aimed at compliance with the provisions and safety prescriptions, contained in the seaside safety order nr, continued. 28/2025 of 22 April 2025.
Overall, three bathing establishments (one in Crotone and two in Sellia Marina) were sanctioned for different types of deficiencies ascertained in relation to the correct estate and presence of the safety equipment and for the failure to comply with the provisions provided for by the aforementioned order.
Overall, the penalties imposed on the owners of the inspected bathing establishments exceed 3000 (three thousand) euros.
Finally, in a restaurant located in the municipality of Cirò Marina Itctic products have been seized without the necessary documentation that attest to its traceability. An administrative penalty of Euro 1,500 (one thousand five hundred) and the fish product, for a total of about 20 (twenty) kilograms, was seized for the subsequent destruction, for the owner of the activity.
