This afternoon, the official ceremony of conferring honorary citizenship to Maestro Eduardo Delgado, born in Rosario (Argentina), an internationally renowned pianist and tireless promoter of cultural dialogue among peoples through music, took place this afternoon.
Eduardo Delgado was a pupil and spiritual heir of Vincenzo Scaramuzza, Crotone, a genius of the music to which the new municipal theater was named.
In the presence of the prefect Franca Ferraro, civil and military authorities, representatives of the cultural world, citizens, the mayor Vincenzo Voce gave the master Delgado the parchment that establishes the symbolic and emotional bond between the Argentine musician and the city of Crotone.
To open the ceremony was the president of the city council Mario Megna, who underlined: “The city council unanimously devoted the conferment of honorary citizenship to the master Delgado. His career and his commitment to promote music internationally represent the values that this city intends to honor and support.”
In his speech, the mayor voice said: “Today we celebrate not only a great artist, but a man who, with his art, built bridges between cultures and generations. Eduardo Delgado, spiritual heir of Vincenzo Scaramuzza, has become part of our community, witness of the value that Crotone attributes to culture as a vehicle for growth and dialogue.”
The councilor for culture Nicola Corigliano then highlighted the profound meaning of recognition: “Master Delgado is not only an extraordinary interpreter, but an educator and an ambassador of music. This citizenship is also an invitation to continue together the cultural path we have taken”
Visibly excited, Maestro Eduardo Delgado thanked the mayor, the municipal administration and the city: “Receiving Crotone’s honorary citizenship is a great honor and a profound emotion for me. I love Italy, its people, its culture. This city has welcomed me with affection and today makes me feel part of its soul. I will continue to promote music as a universal language of peace and beauty in the memory of the master Vincenzo Scaramuzza.
In the parchment delivered to the master Delgado the reasons for the honor: “figure of eminent artistic and cultural value, internationally renowned pianist, sensitive and passionate interpreter, as well as heir to the great musical school of the master Vincenzo Scaramuzza. With this recognition, the city of Crotone symbolically embraces the master Delgado, for having guarded and spreading the artistic and spiritual inheritance in the world Unforgettable master.
