“In recent days I have carefully evaluated the responsibilities, challenges and expectations that the role of mayor entails.
But I have never strayed from the city and its people. I listened to their voices, sensed their hopes and concerns. And this confirmed to me how essential the connection with our community is for me.
The numerous attestations of esteem and encouragement that have reached me from various quarters, together with the trust shown by the majority city councillors, have strengthened in me the conviction to continue to serve this city with renewed energy. This is why today I communicate with full conviction that I am withdrawing my resignation.
By renewing my commitment, I want to continue working for the common good, leading the Administration with responsibility, transparency and constant listening. I sincerely thank all those who, with words, gestures and testimonies of support, have contributed to strengthening my determination. Together we will continue to build the future of our city, with passion, mutual trust and the will to face every challenge as a united community.”
This is what the mayor of Crotone Vincenzo Voce said in a note, making the withdrawal of his resignation official. The mayor had decided to take a step back following the attack on city councilor Ernesto Ioppoli.
