The “Pitagora d’oro”, the utmost city honor provided for by the municipal regulation for the granting of civic merits, for 2025, will be conferred on dr. Antonino De Santis.

De Santis succeeds the master Gerardo Sacco who received the honor in 2023 and Sergio Cammariere awarded in 2024.

The “Pitagora d’oro” is the highest city honor granted by the Municipality of Crotone whose conferment ceremony is held on 9 October on the occasion of the patronal holiday of S. Dionigi.

It is granted to those who with concrete works in the field of sciences, culture, communication, arts, industry, work or social or philanthropic initiatives have enhanced the prestige of the city of Crotone in Italy and in the world.

Superior manager of the State Police, dr. De Santis has gained significant experiences in the field of judicial investigations and the fight against organized crime, holding prominent roles: deputy manager of the Palermo mobile team, manager of the Mobile Team of Catanzaro and, subsequently, of Florence, up to the assignment of vicar of the Quaestor in Grosseto and then in Caserta.

Several times sent on a mission abroad on behalf of the Administration of Public Security for the performance of judicial police activities regarding the fight against mafia crime and transnational organizations dedicated to the trafficking of human being, has collaborated with police in numerous countries.

Recipient of official recognition of the Ministry of the Interior for participation in the rescue operations in favor of the flood hit on Crotone in 1996, he obtained over sixty official awards for judicial police operations carried out in Calabria and in Sicily regarding organized crime and fight against drug trafficking.
