A cyberattack against two suppliers in the Hauts-de-France region of France has compromised personal data and, potentially, banking details. The regional administration reported this to AFP, specifying that it is not yet able to quantify the extent of the violation.

Atexo and Docaposte affected

According to the Region, the suppliers Atexo and Docaposte suffered a cyber attack which allowed “unauthorized access to personal data processed on its behalf”. Initial investigations indicate that the potentially compromised information includes “names, surnames, email addresses, as well as potentially bank details and other identifying data”. The administration cannot yet establish the exact number of people affected, nor whether other categories of data have been accessed or stolen.

The claim is unverified data

The specialized site FrenchBreaches reports that a user claimed responsibility for the attack online, claiming to have the personal data of over 700 thousand people. The information would concern regional subsidies. The claim and the number of people involved have not been independently confirmed.
