Furnari – Arpa Sicilia has made available the new data relating to the samplings carried out in the days following the fire in Contrada Zuppà. The analyses show that the measured values have significantly decreased, compared to the extremely critical dioxin concentration value found in the first sample on June 25 and made known on July 4.
With the data available so far, it is evident that the concentration value of dioxins

extremely critical found in the sample detected in contrada Castriciani, which was 36 times higher than the reference value, is an indication of the acute phase of the landfill fire. As the extinguishing activities continued, the values measured at the other stations (Mazzarrà, Rodì Milici and Furnari), in the following days, in line with the wind direction, were significantly decreased.
