Russia has severely criticized EU plans to strengthen the defenses against drones, stating that Brussels’ response to the crossing of boundaries by unidentified pilot -free aircraft will only increase tensions.

“It is clear that EU hysteria regarding the entrance of drones in its territory and the announcement of defense projects from high -sounding names pursue a single objective: to justify public opinion the increase in the spending for the militarization of Europe at the expense of the socio -economic projects and the decrease in the standard of living of the population”, told Ria Novosti Vladislav Maslennikov, director of the Department of European affairs of the Ministry of the Ministry of the Ministry of Russian Foreign Affairs.

Yesterday, the defense ministers of about 10 EU countries agreed to make the so -called “Droni wall” a priority for the union, after some Member States have been affected by a series of violations of the airspace in recent weeks.

The Russian official warned that the measures will lead to “an increase in military and political tensions on our continent”. He then added that the plans correspond to “personal ambitions and political games of the èlite in power in the EU”.

Maslennikov observed that the European Union did not even understand the length of the “wall” and the participation of Hungary and Slovakia in the project, thus suggesting that he has a poor understanding of the necessary funding.
