Earthquake in the Aeolian Islands, three tremors in less than an hour: the strongest of magnitude 3.7

An earthquake of magnitude 3.7 was recorded by the INGV at 7.25 pm off the coast of the Aeolian Islands, with an epicenter at a depth of 21 km.

Shortly after, a second tremor was detected in the same area. According to data from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the new seismic event reached a magnitude of 2.9 and was recorded at 7.57 pm, with its epicenter again in the area of ​​the Aeolian Islands and at a depth of approximately 8 kilometres.

The seismic sequence continued a little later with a third shock of magnitude 2.2 recorded at 8.06 pm, again in the same area of ​​the Aeolian archipelago and at a depth of approximately 19 kilometres.

At the moment no damage has been reported. The events fall within the normal seismic activity of the Aeolian area, a geologically active area constantly monitored by the INGV network.
