An institutional meeting took place today at the Ministry’s headquarters in Rome between the Education Councilor of the Calabria Region, Eulalia Micheli, and the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara.
“A cordial and operational discussion – reports councilor Micheli – which confirmed the mutual esteem and solid relationships of constructive collaboration between the Ministry and the Calabria Region. During the meeting, some strategic issues for the future of the Calabrian and national integrated education and training system were, in fact, addressed”.
The strengthening of the 0-6 year system and internal areas
Particular attention was paid to the National Plan for the integrated system of education and instruction for 0-6 year olds, with the aim of strengthening the offer of services for children, expanding territorial coverage and guaranteeing equal educational opportunities from the first years of life, especially in internal areas and in the most fragile contexts.
The reform of the “4+2” path and the link with work
Ample space was also reserved for the reform of the “4+2” path, which aims to strengthen the connection between technical and professional education and the world of work, encouraging more modern, specialized training that meets the needs of the productive fabric.
Southern Agenda and combating school dropout
“Minister Valditara – continues councilor Occhiuto – expressed appreciation for the work that the Calabria Region is carrying out in implementing the model, underlining the commitment made in the involvement of schools, businesses and Its Academies.
The discussion on Agenda Sud, the intervention plan aimed at reducing territorial gaps and combating school dropout, was also positive. The minister recognized the efforts made by Calabria in the effective use of resources and in implementing concrete actions to improve learning levels and strengthen students’ basic skills.
In reiterating the full availability of the Ministry to support the growth path of the Calabrian school system, Minister Valditara confirmed his attention towards a Region that is demonstrating determination and strategic vision in wanting to grow, investing in education as a fundamental lever of social and economic development”.
Towards a modern and inclusive school
At the end, councilor Micheli expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting, underlining how constant dialogue with the Government represents an essential element to guarantee quality, innovation and inclusion in the regional education system: “the Calabria Region will continue along the path of reform and strengthening of the educational offer, with the aim of building an increasingly modern, fair and capable school to respond to the challenges of the present and the future”.
