The investigating judge of the Court of Crotone ordered the forced charge for 4 people for the death of a 91-year-old from San Giovanni in Fiore in 2024. Specifically, the investigating judge ordered the prosecutor’s office to formulate the charge for three social-health workers and for the owner of a private health facility in Crotone. The investigation of the Crotone prosecutor’s office concerns the death of an elderly from Cosentino who on August 9, 2024 was hospitalized in a structure for the elderly.
The 91 -year -old was suffering from senile dementia as highlighted by the medical certification deposited at the time of hospitalization. Therefore, as reiterated by the defense of the family, the elderly person needed constant supervision by the health personnel of the structure. But seven days after hospitalization, it happened that the elderly man managed to get away from the structure because “the automatic gate did not close due to a failure”. The elderly crossed the road and falling into a cliff died. It was found 5 hours later, also thanks to the family members who in the meantime had been alerted by the shareholders of the retirement home.
The family presented a complaint to the carabinieri and the prosecutor of Crotone (competent because the elderly man died there) opened a file for manslaughter. The family members of the elderly since then ask that any responsibilities are ascertained on what happened and they entrusted themselves to the lawyer of the Forum of Cosenza Katia Vizza, who opposed the request for storage made by the Prosecutor’s Office obtaining from the investigating judge the forced charge of the suspects.
