The resigning president of the Calabria and Redandida Region, Roberto Occhiuto, responded to the leader of the 5 Star Movement Giuseppe Conte, who during an election tour in the region had defined his resignation as a “gesture of arrogance in the face of a judicial investigation”.
“Conte should have the same respect that I have towards the judiciary – said Occhiuto -. The judiciary does not affect political choices, has its times, while the politics and government of a region have their own times “.
“A halved president does not govern”
Occhiuto claimed the choice not to “block everything”: «It is complicated to govern the public administration in Italy and especially in Calabria. You can do it if they see you as a strong president. If they see you halved it becomes complicated anything ».
The governor cited the case of Abraham Customer Care: “After so much effort to stabilize workers, they risked layoffs because there was no manager who signed a decree of a few thousand euros to transfer medical records. What is Conte’s afraid of? I gave him and others the opportunity to ask Calabrian voters if in these four years I have done well or not ».
Healthcare and commissioners
The Calabrian president then pointed his finger on the theme of health: «I see that Conte runs for hospitals. I would say that he returns to the crime scene, because he should remember the commissioners he has appointed. They were the ones who lost the Covid plan or said they had been drugged. With those commissioners, probably many hospitals would be closed ».

Finally, Occhiuto commented on the absence of Pasquale Tridico to a confrontation on health in Catanzaro, promoted by some associations, which also attended Francesco Toscano of sovereign and popular democracy: «I was present, because I wanted to discuss health. I’m sorry I couldn’t do it: I think it’s not respectful. It is already the second time that it happens, I hope it does not repeat itself. However, I said yes to all the comparisons ».
