As part of the activities promoted by the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) to encourage the exchange of experiences between judicial authorities of the various European Union countries, four European magistrates, accompanied by the deputy prosecutor Dr. Eugenia Belmonte visited the provincial carabinieri command of Vibo Valentia.
The delegation was received by Lieutenant Colonel Simone Puglisi, commander of the Operational Department, who illustrated the organization of the Carabinieri Corps and deepened the theme “Responsibility and relations with the Prosecutor’s Office and the District Anti -Mafia Directorate” in order to make known the Italian coordination mechanisms between the police forces and the judicial authority.
During the meeting, held in English, the magistrates were instructed in particular on the rules of criminal procedure, on the acquisition of crime news and on the techniques aimed at ensuring the sources of test, as well as on the collection of all the elements useful for the application of the criminal law.
Following, the delegation witnessed an operational exercise conducted by the “Calabria” heliported squadron, which allowed to show the peculiar skills of the department in the activities of combating crime in the most impervious areas of the region, especially in the capture of the fugitives.
