The Municipality of Catanzaro informs citizenship which, starting from Monday 25 August 2025 (click here to download the cards with the days and the streets of the interventions), a new cycle of extraordinary adulticida disinfestation interventions will start, with the use of specific products aimed at the prevention of the West Nile virus, in response to what is required by the provincial health company.
The decision was taken in a timely manner by the Administration, following the communication received from the ASP on 18 August 2025, with which several municipalities in the area were invited – including Catanzaro – to carry out further disinfestation interventions, after the ascertainment of a case of positivity to the virus in the municipality of Borgia (Roccelletta hamlet).
Already on Monday 19 August, the municipal administration has planned the required interventions, which will affect the entire urban territory and will be carried out in full compliance with the environmental and health security protocols.
This new intervention is part of an articulated and progressive strategy put in place by the Municipality of Catanzaro in recent weeks, which has foreseen: a first phase of larvicidal interventions; a second phase of ordinary adulticides (anti-alary) interventions; A specific first specific anti-wst nile cycle, with the use of additional products compared to ordinary ones; The intervention arranged by the ASP in the south area, scheduled for the night between 19 and 20 August (from 23.00 to 06.00) following the case recorded in Borgia.
The new cycle departing from 25 August therefore represents an additional and preventive action, aimed at containing any potential risk to public health. The Administration renews the invitation to citizenship to collaborate, following the indications already widespread to guarantee the effectiveness of the interventions.
The interventions will always be held from 00.05 to 06.00.

August 29 (is intended on the night between 28 and 29 August), Centro area: historic center (including all the alleys and traverses), from via Indipendenza to Bellavista (+ via Fontana Vecchia), via A. Turco, via Carlo V, via XX Settembre, Viale dei Normanni (+ Q. Piano Casa), Viale dei Bizantini, Viale Bruitium (up to the Cassiodoro intersection).
