Lando Norris, winner of the last two GPs in Hungary and Holland, finished sixth, 0″711 behind Leclerc; Oscar Piastri’s McLaren, however, was only eleventh. Max Verstappen did not take to the track to make room for the young Japanese Ayumu Iwasa, seventeenth. The second free practice session began at 4pm.
