“Yesterday evening at the event organized by the Cosenza Municipal Administration, within the summer program ‘Festival delle Invasioni 2024’ the phrase ‘Meloni evaporates!’ was projected several times. What is even more serious is that it was projected on the facade of the Palace of an institution such as the Province of Cosenza. At the event, among other things, members of the municipal council and board were also present”. This was stated in a note by the provincial coordinator of Fratelli d’Italia of Cosenza Ugly Angel. “It is unacceptable – he continues – that in a demonstration financed with public funds, Pac 2014-2020 funds from the Calabria Region, offensive messages are projected against the person of Giorgia Meloni. The left, even in Cosenza, does not lose the habit of using artistic demonstrations to do politics. We expect that the parties that make up the majority at Palazzo del Bruzi, in addition to the Mayor, distance themselves from this sinister attempt to incite hatred”.
He also intervened on the matter Nicholas Carusoof the national executive of Gioventù Nazionale who defines “such behavior as absolutely unacceptable, especially considering that the event was conceived, as declared by the municipal administration during the press conference to present the event, with the aim of promoting unity among citizens and creating an inclusive atmosphere, which favors integration and acceptance rather than exclusion. It is essential to take a clear distance from these acts of hatred towards the institutions and those who represent them. It is a real shame that this happened on the very day dedicated to the memory of Paolo Borsellino and his escort, who sacrificed their lives to defend the legality and freedom of all citizens, a day that the administration thought it best not to remember”.
“We expect – concludes Caruso – that the Mayor of Cosenza distances himself from this type of unpleasant messages, which go completely against the idea of inclusiveness and welcome that he claims to support and puts at the center of his administrative activity”.
The Municipal Administration condemns the reprehensible episode
The Municipal Administration condemns, as it has always done, any act of outrage, insult and, in any case, inappropriateness perpetrated against anyone. In particular, what happened last night during the Invasioni shows with the projection of offensive writings both against the Municipal Administration and the Mayor Franz Caruso and against the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, is reprehensible. Equally, however, the attitude, considered not serious and responsible, of those who try to politically exploit the deplorable episode, on which, moreover, the Police immediately intervened, probably identifying the author, and the Security of the event.
