A fire, caused according to the first investigations from accidental causes, developed in the early afternoon in an apartment on the fourth floor of a building in the center of Cosenza. The flames propagated quickly, forcing the family who lived in the house affected by the fire to flee. Nobody suffered injuries, but some people (they should be eleven in all) have remained intoxicated by smoking and were brought to the emergency room of the hospital for investigations. The building was cleared, for precautionary reasons, pending the conclusion of the investigations on the causes of the fire.

The PEMA.P (emergency plan for the massive influx of patients) was activated today, in the emergency room following the arrival, at the same time, of 11 people with breathing difficulties due to the execution of carbon dioxide as a result of an accident that occurred in a building in the city center. One of the patients, in more serious conditions, has been hospitalized in intensive care and is currently subjected to ventilatory support. The management of the emergency through the activation of the PEMAP, in conjunction with the regular activity of the emergency room, has made it possible to maintain optimal levels of efficiency, guaranteeing timely assistance to all patients involved. The management of the hospital expresses a heartfelt thanks to the prefecture and the police, with whom the intervention provided for by the emergency plan was shared and coordinated.
