The Regional Secretary of Sinappe, Fabio Viglienti, together with the provincial secretary, Marco De Seta, expressed maximum solidarity and closeness to the prison police staff in service in the district house of Paola, victim of an attack by a prisoner.
The episode took place yesterday. Some units, during the service, noticed the absence of a prisoner from their cell. “In order to check if the same had accused an illness – explains the union – they proceeded to enter the prison chamber”.
The prisoner, found in the bathroom, “without any justified reason he lashed out against the agents to try to attack them with a rudimentary knife”.
Synappe, in firmly condemning the incident, reiterated the need to guarantee maximum security for penitentiary operators, once again underlining the daily difficulties faced by staff in Calabrian prisons.
