Yesterday afternoon, August 29, the firefighters of the Vibo Valentia command were engaged for a fire that affected a LPG tank in San Gregorio d’Ippona.
A fire of some pruning residues has affected the valve group of an underground GPL tank causing damage to the same with consequent escape of the gas.
The firefighters, promptly intervened, after turning off the fire found that the escape of gas could not be intercepted and therefore, for precautionary purposes, evacuated the occupants of some houses located in the vicinity by delimiting the area.
Through a monitoring of the neighboring areas through explosime, the concentration of the LPG under the lower explosiveness limit was maintained pending the intervention of the NBCR regional nucleus, specialized in the management of engaging scenarios dangerous substances, which provided for the safety of the intervention area with the consequent return of the occupants within their homes ..
The intervention ended at about 24 hours.
