Since yesterday, the Government has introduced a cut in excise duties on fuel for twenty days. A measure that Federconsumatori Calabria Aps welcomes «but it is still not enough – we read in the note issued by the association – considering the greater proceeds coming from the extra revenue from VAT and excise duties, also driven by the rapid and incredible growth in fuel prices, which would allow a more incisive intervention, lasting well over 20 days».
While appreciating the acceptance of its request for greater powers of verification and combating speculative phenomena by Mister Prezzi, Federconsumatori Calabria is convinced «that this activity must not be limited to the fuel sector, but must also monitor and severely sanction possible speculation on the prices of goods and services» and that it is necessary «to establish that these controls are not retroactive, since we understand that several distributors yesterday (Wednesday, ed.), precisely in view of the Council of ministers and the possible cut in excise duties, have increased the costs of petrol and diesel”.
The association also underlines that «today (yesterday, ed.) at 11 am, our regional observers noted that prices have not yet changed due to the effect of the excise duty cut and that, in some areas, such as Calabria, in the comparison of prices across three surveys, they have even increased».
