There are two cases of West Nile infection reported to the public hygiene office of the ASP of Catanzaro. It is an 89 -year -old woman and a 57 -year -old man, residing in Guardavalle, in the province of Catanzaro, and currently hospitalized in the infectious diseases department of the University Hospital. Both arrived in the hospital in serious conditions in the hospital, presenting symptoms of fever and encephalitis. At the moment the conditions are stable but are considered not yet out of danger. The ASP of Catanzaro has made it known that it has started an epidemiological investigation and that in the next few days the environmental reclamation in the municipality of Guardavalle will be activated.

From what has been learned, the woman is resident in a rural area while man is a fruit and vegetable trader. The University Hospital of Catanzaro, through the extraordinary commissioner Simona Carbone, has assured that the situation is currently managed in close collaboration with the ASP of Catanzaro.
