The activities of the Carabinieri continue incessantly to combat the fires that affected the Presila area and the Ionian area of Catanzaro.
The overall balance of the Sellia Marina Company is two people reported in a state of freedom, as perpetrators of arson in areas of Mediterranean scrub, and dozens of administrative sanctions for a total value estimated at around 15,000 euros, in implementation of the Regional Plan for the prevention and active fight against forest fires
In Sellia Marina and Sersale, the soldiers of the local stations, together with colleagues from the Forestry Units of Catanzaro and Sersale itself, intensified the prevention and combat services against the specific phenomenon following several fires which had mostly affected wooded areas and uncultivated land and the results were not long in coming. In fact, on two separate occasions, two men were identified shortly after having set fires to land adjacent to their homes. Specifically, the suspects had collected piles of brushwood which they then set on fire, causing fires which had spread dangerously to neighboring lands, with consequent inconveniences to the road system, given the proximity to the road arteries, without forgetting the irreparable damage to the environment.
As part of the initiatives to combat forest fires, over 100 patrolling services were carried out during which numerous administrative sanctions were applied for violations of the regional law on forest fires.
