Following the fire developed on 13 July at the company’s waste treatment plant Ecology todayin the municipality of Lamezia Terme (CZ), the regional agency for the protection of the environment of Calabria (Arpacal) promptly activated an action of Extraordinary air quality monitoring.
The sampling, carried out by means of a high volume sampler (AV) between 14 and 15 July 2025 near the plant, at the headquarters of the Ecosistem company in Lenza Viscardi, was analyzed by the Aria/Water Chemical Laboratory of the Provincial Department of Reggio Calabria.
The results, reported in the test report no. 25RC3600CA/01, do not highlight exceeding the regulatory limits envisaged for monitored pollutantsin particular for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (IPA), combustion emissions indicators. Benzo (a) Pyrene, a ruler asset as an objective value on an annual basis, was less than 0.05 ng/m³, or significantly below the law limit set at 1 ng/m³ (Legislative Decree 155/2010).
The situation, on the basis of the available analytical evidence, does not present significant environmental or health critical issues in the sampled area. The technical coordination with the bodies in charge of assessing the possible need for further checks remains active.
