In view of the football matches of the “ACR Messina 1900” sports club, valid for the Championship of Excellence – Group B, 2026/2027 season, to be played at the “Franco Scoglio” municipal stadium in S. Filippo, a series of measures relating to traffic and public safety have been adopted, valid for the entire sports season. The measures, which apply in the time slot between three hours before the start of the matches and two hours after their end, and in any case until vehicular and pedestrian traffic normalizes, arise from the need to allow spectators to reach the “green” and “yellow” parking areas, belonging to the stadium, without interfering with access to the “red” parking area.
The latter is currently under judicial seizure and hosts the debris resulting from the collapse of the Pistunina building. Therefore, spectators heading to the “green” and “yellow” parking areas will be able to reach them via Via degli Agrumi. There is also a ban on vehicular transit in via N. Carosio, in the section upstream of the intersection with via Miran Hrovatin, with the consequent interdiction of the “S. Filippo” motorway junction: at the intersection with via Adolfo Celi suitable warning signs will be placed warning of the closure of the junction, so as to allow motorists to continue along via N. Carosio up to the traffic light intersection with via Miran Hrovatin and subsequently enter the town of S. Lucia Sopra Contesse.
Barriers and road signs will also be positioned to prevent vehicles coming from via N. Carosio, in the mountain-sea direction, from accessing the sea-side roundabout section of the “red” parking area used to reverse direction towards the motorway ring road, thus avoiding transit near the accesses to the same area. Similar barriers and signs will be placed to prevent vehicles coming from via Ayrton Senna, the road connecting to the Messina Karting Club, from entering via N. Carosio at the accesses to the “red” area.
Finally, two-way traffic will be established in the section of the Stadium ring road between via Ayrton Senna and the connecting road (downstream of the south curve) with the same ring road, while in the following stretch, up to via N. Carosio, one-way traffic in the sea-mountain direction will be in force. Alcohol, touting and street trading With ordinance no. 152/2026, valid for the entire 2026/2027 football season, the Mayor also ordered, in the same time slot (three hours before and two hours after each match): the ban on the sale, administration and transfer to third parties of alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content greater than 5%, as well as the sale, use and consumption of drinks or other products in cans and glass containers, even of personal origin, and the ban on the use of sprays stinging inside the stadium and within a radius of 500 meters from it; the ban on the illegal buying and selling of tickets (“touting”) within a radius of 3 km from the external perimeter of the stadium; the ban on itinerant trade along the external perimeter of the stadium and in the surrounding streets. The ordinance also requires the owners of 24-hour drink vending machines in the areas surrounding the stadium to deactivate, in the same time slot, the distribution of alcoholic beverages exceeding 5% and drinks in cans or glass bottles. Finally, it is established that the sale of take-away drinks with an alcohol content of 5% or less takes place exclusively in disposable glasses, and that drinks in bottles or other plastic containers are sold after the container has been opened and the cap removed by the shopkeeper.
