Don Mario Ciardullo, the first Italian to visit the Masai village of Ruvu-Ngage, in the diocese of Same, Tanzania, was received in the boardroom of Palazzo dei Bruzi by the Culture Commission. The institutional greetings were entrusted to Francesco Turco, delegated to business with the cult of the Municipality. Don Mario Ciardullo, in the presence of the parishioners, received an important recognition for the trip to Africa. The motivation (“A Don Mario Ciardullo, esteemed priest, appreciated songwriter, innovative evangelizer. Exemplary point of reference for our young people in the promotion of culture, solidarity and spirituality”) was reported on the plaque delivered by Mimmo Inmmartino, president of the commission, in memory of the intense African experience, lived by the young priest of the diocese of Cosenza-Bisignano.
The works were introduced by the same frammartino who underlined this truly extraordinary experience with passionate words, as a man and as a priest, by Don Mario Ciardullo: “An institutional recognition, to reward the commitment of a priest who speaks to youth through a different approach, where divine talents received for an incisive and engaging language are put into play”.
The parish priest of S. Maria della Consolazione in Arcavacata after thanking the Commission for having been “sensitive to such an important cause” recalled the particularity of the day (the third anniversary of the disappearance of the beloved Bishop Nolè and the departure of two confreres).
The meeting was also present Don Giacomo Tuoto who highlighted the spirit of the many missionaries scattered around the world. The Culture Commission has committed itself to giving continuity to the promotion of human dignity.
