Last night, in Furnari, the carabinieri of the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto Company arrested a 38-year-old Romanian man, already known to the police, in flagrante delicto, held responsible for “attempted aggravated theft” and “resisting a public official”. The arrest was carried out as part of an ordinary territorial control service, during which a crew of the Aliquota Radiomobile – while traveling along a road belonging to the “Portorosa” residential complex – surprised two subjects who were unhinging a door of the gate of a house. On this occasion, the two noticed the presence of the military and immediately interrupted their action, fleeing in opposite directions. This led to a short chase, at the end of which the Carabinieri managed to stop one of the criminals, who had tried to escape by hiding in an adjacent courtyard. In particular, the latter, in a desperate attempt to escape capture, resisted and threw himself against the operatives, who still managed to immobilize him. In light of what was ascertained, the 38-year-old was then arrested and taken to the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto prison, at the disposal of the judicial authorities awaiting the validation hearing. Investigations continue to identify the accomplice.
