Professor Gianluigi Greco will guide the University of Calabria for the Sexian 2025-2031. In the rectoral elections celebrated today, the director of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science prevailed on Franco Ernesto Rubino, director of the Department of Legal and Business Sciences, obtaining a total of 643.6 votes, equal to 78%, against 175.6 of the opponent (22%). In particular, Greco received 556 votes from the teaching body (143 Ruby). He then obtained 125 votes from the students (weighted vote 22.9), compared to the 54 obtained by Rubino (weighed vote 9.9), as well as 351 votes from the PTA (weighed 48.8 vote) against 157 (weighted vote 21.8) of the opponent and 68 votes by Rtda researchers (weighted vote 6.8) compared to the 8 (0.8 raised vote).

The introduction of the electronic voting through the Eligere platform and the electronic mode for those who were unable to reach the campus for proven institutional commitments or for certified health reasons, have guaranteed the full expression of the right to vote, a regular performance of the electoral operations and a wide participation, testified by a very high turnout.

The election of Gianluigi Greco marks the affirmation of a young candidate but already known at national level, which ensures a certain continuity of vision with the outgoing governance. In fact, he has worked actively within the government bodies – in particular as coordinator of the didactic commission of the academic Senate and the Commission for the strategic university policies – contributing concretely to achieving the excellent results that marked the sexen year led by the rector Nicola Leone.

With the election of Gianluigi Greco, for the second time in the history of the University, Unical will be led by one of his former students.
