Giorgio Tabacco's perfect week. In Villena, Spain, the young tennis player from Pelorita, who last December was among the protagonists in winning the championship for the Tennis and Sailing Club, won his first professional trophy, winning an ITF tournament with 15 thousand dollars in prize money. On the synthetic pitch in Villena, Giorgio Tabacco defeated, in the final, Liam Gavrielides, in a comeback, with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, after two hours and thirty-six minutes of play. The German tennis player, in the semi-final, had defeated Fausto in three sets, thus setting aside the dream of the two brothers from Messina who hoped to face each other in the final act of the tournament to compete for the title.
In Villena, Giorgio Tabacco collected seven consecutive victories, as the Peloritan tennis player, before entering the main draw, passed two rounds in the qualifying draw (Alvaro Bueno Gil and Javier Molino defeated) and immediately, in the first round, ousted the top seed of the seeding, the Turkish Ergi Kirkin, number 324 in the world.
For the youngest of the Tabacco brothers, as mentioned, this is the first success of his career, after the lost finals, both on clay, on 9 May 2022 in Santa Margherita di Pula, Sardinia, against Jack Pinington Jones and the 2 September 2023, in Forlì, against Gabriele Pennaforti.
