The alleged perpetrator of the shooting that occurred on the night of last September 6th in the Mannoli hamlet of Santo Stefano in Aspromonte has a name and a face. The Carabinieri, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Reggio Calabria, carried out a precautionary custody measure under house arrest against the man, seriously suspected of illegal possession and carrying of a firearm and aggravated personal injury.
The dynamics of the aggression
The episode occurred at the end of an evening spent in the center of the Aspromont area. According to the investigators’ reconstruction, at the height of a violent argument – the causes of which are still being investigated – the suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots at two local brothers, wounding them both in the legs.
While the two injured were rescued and rushed to hospital for the necessary treatment, the Carabinieri immediately started investigations.
The investigation and arrest
The technical-scientific findings carried out at the site of the shooting immediately after the events, combined with the first testimonies collected on site, were decisive for the rapid turning point of the case. The cross-analysis of the information elements allowed the military to quickly outline a solid circumstantial framework against the alleged perpetrator.
At the request of the Reggio Prosecutor’s Office, the Judge for Preliminary Investigations therefore ordered the precautionary measure of house arrest against the man, where the suspect is now at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
