A large quantity of marijuana, over 8 kg, was seized by the State Police in Sinopoli, as part of an extraordinary territorial control service which involved two pre-Aspromonte municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria. A man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The operation involved the agents of the Palmi Police Station, with the support of the crews of the Crime Prevention Department and two dog units specialized in the search for weapons, explosives and narcotic substances.
Precisely during a house search in Sinopoli, the police discovered 8 kilos and 120 grams of marijuana inside a house in the man’s possession. The substance was partly kept in a large plastic bag and partly spread out on a cloth on the floor, left to dry, in view of future distribution.
The drugs were seized and the man, arrested in the act, was detained at the Palmi prison.
During the performance of this service, the activity of preventing and combating illegality made it possible to set up 10 checkpoints, identify 205 people and check 144 vehicles, as well as carrying out several searches and contesting four violations of the Highway Code.
