Visit to the Pianigiano hospital for Giuseppe Falcomatà, together with the secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein, the candidate Governor Pasquale Tridico and the regional secretary Nicola Irto.
“The enormous critical issues of the Polistena Hospital represent the paradigm of disastrous health, the most painful failure of the management of the governor and supercommissary Roberto Occhiuto,” said Falcomatà, denouncing deceived departments, deficiency of personnel and interminable waiting lists that push citizens to the private individual or health.
Endless criticality
According to Falcomatà, up to eight hours are expected in the emergency room, radiology is without ultrasounds and patients with motor difficulties remain penalized by architectural barriers and fault lifts. “Here – he said – it works only thanks to the passion and abnegation of doctors and nurses who resist in impossible conditions”.
Attack on regional management
The metropolitan mayor of Reggio Calabria stressed that healthcare absorbs the most consistent part of the regional budget, while every year the Calabrians pay 400 million to the Northern regions to take care of. He criticized the use of Cuban doctors, accusing Occhiuto of not having made the competitions for Calabrian professionals attractive.
“Infinite waiting lists, weakened hospitals, emergence of collapse: this is the 2025 Calabria”, concluded Falcomatà, relaunching the need for structural investments and praising the commitment of the Democratic Party, represented by Schlein and Tridico, to reverse the course.
