A stretch of a busy road in the Thai capital Bangkok collapsed this morning, leaving a hole ten meters deep in front of an important hospital and forcing the residents nearby to be evacuated.

Just outside a local police station and the Vajira hospital, in a residential neighborhood in Bangkok, a hole of about 50 meters has transmitted electric cables and brought to light a broken pipe from which she began to flow water.

Dozens of policemen and municipal officials areolated the area, while a pick-up staggered precariously on the edge of the chasm. Suriyachai Rawiwan, director of the Bangkok disasters prevention department, said that the collapse was probably connected to recent strong rains and a loss of water.
