A total, enthusiastic and stimulating participation which saw the Istituto Comprensivo Rende-Commenda as protagonist on the occasion of “Libriamoci”, the national event dedicated to reading in schools. All the classes of the institute responded to the call by transforming the classrooms into real laboratories of thought and creativity, following the methodology of “augmented reading”: an innovative approach that allows you to “dismantle” stories to broaden their meanings and vocabulary through the wise use of digital content and transversal activities. It wasn’t just a matter of reading, but of inhabiting books, transforming them into tools for investigating the contemporary world.

From the first classes of the “Giuseppe Stancati” primary school in Rende and “Luigi Chiodo” in Zumpano, up to the fourth, the adventure was conveyed by fantastic characters, without neglecting crucial issues such as education in affectivity and conscious knowledge of rights. The paths gave rise to extraordinary creative developments: literary and artistic compositions, rhythmic musical performances, lapbooks and symbolic objects that colored the corridors, also actively involving families, who became an integral part of this educational process. For fifth graders, the meeting took a more introspective turn: starting from the text “Do the right thing!”, the students got involved by reflecting on their daily attitudes and demonstrating how literature can be a fundamental compass for emotional growth and active citizenship.

The beating heart of the event was represented by the meetings with the authors Roberto Morgese and Flavia Franco, who took part thanks to the precious mediation of Gennaro Sauzullo. Sauzullo himself, struck by the extraordinary welcome, underlined the quality of the work carried out, recognizing in the children a rare curiosity and critical thinking oriented towards inclusion. Roberto Morgese described the workshop experience, defining the young readers as “lively, ironic and fantastic”, capable of letting themselves be dragged by the characters into authentic moments of confrontation that went beyond the confines of the frontal lesson.

The words of Flavia Franco are particularly touching, as she described the institute as a special environment where harmony and care can be felt in every common space: “The teachers who choose to work on narrative are competent and a little magical, visionary and energetic”, declared the author, underlining the teaching synergy that makes the school a “happy” place and praising the preparation of the children, the result of teamwork coordinated by the wise guidance of the Director Simona Sansosti. This harmony, which unites managers, teachers and ATA staff, has transformed the event into a true community celebration.

These testimonies confirm IC Rende-Commenda as an educational center of excellence, capable of combining tradition with immersive experiences that place the student at the center of a more reflective society. As declared on the sidelines of the meetings by Giulia Falcone, coordinator of the initiative: “This authoritative feedback gratifies us and urges us to always do better, confirming that the path of reading is the right one to train the citizens of tomorrow”. The appointment with reading, for this vibrant and aware community, is already set for the next edition.
