The crisis confuses the plots of life, a bit like destiny has always done in this land of ours. Poverty has become solid matter amidst the social earthquakes that are rapidly revealing new needs and new miseries. First Covid and now the energy crisis and speculation in markets conditioned by wars have reconfigured the precincts of the social peripheries. The latest analysis by the Confcommercio Research Office on GDP and regional consumption gives Calabria the “black jersey” for economic growth expected in 2026, together with Basilicata, with an increase in GDP stuck at 0.6%, while family consumption will stop at just 0.5%, the weakest result in Italy.
